This hearth provides a unique and appealing shield from heat and errant sparks.  It was designed to house this wood stove and conveniently hold needed fire accessories. 

The color and texture of the concrete are eye-catching and add visual interest to the corner surrounding the stove.  Glass embedded in the surface sparkles in the firelight.  A stylized “return” to the wall allows this piece to completely wrap around the corner of an entryway—an innovative segue to the rest of the house.

The hearth also features witty and extremely useful details like this inlaid storage spot for matches. 

Precise spaces were left in the concrete for the stove, and for additional needs including a wood rack.  The rounded “bullnose” edge softens the look and feel of this unique piece.
