Why Concrete?

One of the beauties of concrete is its versatility. This versatility ensures that piece is entirely unique and one of a kind.  Concrete when first mixed is somewhat viscous and will take on any shape or texture. After it has cured concrete becomes very hard and durable. Then it can be ground to a mirror finish or given a unique tactile feel and look. Concrete can be made in almost any color of the rainbow. With modern techniques, pigments, and stains the possibilities for achieving the look you want are endless.

Imprints can be placed for accent, texture, and personalized flair.

Fossils, aggregate (small stones in the concrete mixture), coins, strips of metal, recycled glass, and ceramic tiles can add to the character of a concrete piece.

The edge profile (or shape) can be molded so that it is straight, round, angled, bull-nosed, etc.

When we think of concrete, often the first thing to come to mind is a sidewalk or a driveway, but it also has an amazing range of creative applications. Concrete has been used for functional and artistic purposes since the Roman age. Not only is that architecture still standing, it has inspired concrete work throughout the world. This is a medium that can enrich your life as functional art and add personal expression and imagination to the places we work, live, and play.
